Arsenal will kick off their 2024/25 Premier League season against Wolves in little over a week. The Gunners welcome Gary O’Neil’s side to Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 17 and have just one pre-season friendly remaining before then.
Lyon travel to the capital on Sunday to take part in the latest edition of the Emirates Cup, giving Mikel Arteta the perfect chance to give his squad one last run out before the real competition begins. Off the pitch, Arsenal have been equally as busy with David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori signing long-term deals.
Viktor Gyokeres deal agreed
One player who has been tracked by Arsenal is Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting CP striker has earned himself a reputation of being a clinical finisher in recent seasons. The 26-year-old scored 43 goals and assisted 15 times in 50 appearances in all competitions last campaign.
He is an out and out No.9, which is something that Arsenal do not possess currently. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are fantastic strikers but do not possess the clinical edge, while Eddie Nketiah could depart this summer and was never going to be first choice under Arteta.
