Arsenal ramps up Viktor Gyokeres transfer pursuit after Victor Osimhen decision

Arsenal is pushing forward with its plans to sign Viktor Gyokeres before the transfer deadline.

The Premier League runner-up was always anticipated to bring in a new striker this summer, but had to change course after its top target, Benjamin Sesko, decided to renew his contract with Red Bull Leipzig just before Euro 2024.

Since then, Arsenal has been linked with several high-profile forwards, including Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, with the former now appearing more likely to make the move to the Emirates before the month’s end.

Arsenal is active on Gyokeres and not Napoli’s Osimhen. Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been suggested as possible landing spots for the latter striker in recent weeks.

But for the Gunners, securing Gyokeres following his impressive debut season with Sporting Lisbon in Portugal seems to be the strategy ahead of the new Premier League season. Gyokeres, 26, netted an impressive 43 goals in 50 matches for Sporting last season after transferring from Championship side Coventry City.
