Arteta new contract, Sesko and Williams sign, four sold – Arsenal dream alternative transfers

Arsenal’s summer has been particularly speculation-ridden. For all the talk only two first-team additions have been made, and one of those is David Raya who hardly counts after spending last season in north London.

Emile Smith Rowe is the only major exit of note as well, although Amario Cozier-Duberry leaving to join Brighton after not signing a new contract and Chido Obi-Martin closing in on a move to Manchester United are also significant in a different way. With less than a month until the transfer window closes, it hasn’t been one to remember yet.

That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been effective and cannot yet be immensely rewarding or productive for Arsenal, but it has left Mikel Arteta with question marks across his squad. There are numerous players still in the squad who have little if no part to play in an ideal world, whereas there are still incomings to complete if the final step to overtaking Manchester City is to be made.
