Antoine Griezmann has been unable to contain his excitement at the prospect of Julian Alvarez joining Atletico Madrid from Manchester City.
The 24-year-old is set to sign for the La Liga side after Manchester City reached an agreement with Atletico on Tuesday afternoon. If all add-ons are met, City could end up netting £82m for a player who cost a fraction of that price when he joined from River Plate in 2022.
Alvarez has made over 100 appearances for City since 2022 and was an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s side that won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the 2022/23 season.
However, the Argentine now looks set for a move to the Wanda Metropolitano, with Griezmann all but confirming the transfer on Twitter on Tuesday night. The Frenchman tweeted a spider emoji followed by a shocked face and a love-struck emoji.
