Arsenal make final Baris Alper Yilmaz transfer decision amid clever Edu Gaspar proposal

Arsenal’s summer transfer activity has accelerated in recent weeks with the start of the 2024/25 Premier League less than two weeks away. The Gunners have made two signings so far this summer, David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori, but more business is expected to follow.

Mikel Arteta’s team building at the Emirates Stadium since 2019 has meant his squad is now firing on all cylinders around the pitch. One of the best defensive lines in Europe behind a versatile midfield and attacking trio means Arsenal are well-equipped to compete at the top of the Premier League again.

Calafiori’s arrival from Bologna means the Gunners have more options in defence while their serious interest in Mikel Merino could see them sign a midfielder of a similar profile of Granit Xhaka, who left over a year ago now. In attack, though, they are yet to add to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

A new centre-forward has been the clear priority since last January with moves for Ivan Toney and Viktor Gyokeres all being tipped. Despite the need for a new No.9, sporting director Edu Gaspar is reportedly pondering a move for a different type of attacker.
