Edu risks Arsenal anger with latest claim but transfer desire remains strong for title success

Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has risked, at the very minimum, raising some eyebrows from fans with his words on success at the club and at worst will have angered the more scrutinising members of the supporter base. Speaking to the Men in Blazers, the Brazilian was asked about the situation with the Gunners following their agonising miss of the Premier League title last season.

Arsenal finished two points behind Manchester City despite breaking their own club records in terms of goals and win percentage across the whole campaign. The side improved in all areas but in the end it wasn’t enough not just domestically but to lift any major silverware whatsoever.

Edu himself raised the question of what the definition of success for Arsenal is and provided a view which is sure to be questioned by some. His answer provided insight into the processes but also the vision of the club.

“We have to question ourselves what is success? If success is just winning titles or if success is just playing the Champions League,” Edu stated.

“We have to understand the stage of the club we are at the moment and consider what are we doing is success or not. In my position what I feel really proud and I feel we really changed the perception of the club.
