Mikel Merino is a “complete player” according to Barcelona star Pedri – as Arsenal continue to inch closer to clinching the Spaniard’s signature.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a stellar Euro 2024 as he lifted the trophy with Spain after beating England 2-1 in the final. And his performances certainly caught the eye of the Premier League club, who are looking to make the midfielder their third signing of the summer.
Mikel Arteta’s side are “close” to reaching an agreement with Real Sociedad, according to Spanish media outlet Relev, after putting forward a new bid in the region of £25.3million plus bonuses with an agreement reportedly already in place on personal terms with Merino wanting the move.
The La Liga side have already moved to replace the Spaniard having agreed terms to sign Luka Sucic from RB Salzburg, potentially freeing the way for Merino to return to England, having had a short stint at Newcastle in the 2017/18 season before signing for Sociedad.
