Arsenal to make decision on brilliant first-team player this week

Arsenal will make a decision on the future of Jakub Kiwior when the club returns from the pre-season tour in the US, according to Polish outlet Meczyki.

The Gunners are set to play a friendly match against Liverpool on Thursday before returning to Europe to continue their preparations for the new season. Discussions about the Polish international’s future will take place at that time.

So far, Arsenal have played two friendly matches against AFC Bournemouth and Manchester United. Kiwior came off the bench in both games. Despite an incomplete squad in the US, competition for a spot in Mikel Arteta’s team remains fierce.

On Monday, Arsenal announced the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for £42 million on a long-term contract. The Italian is joining the team as an upgrade on Kiwior who made 30 appearances last season.

The central defensive positions are reserved for William Saliba and Gabriel. Jurrien Timber, who has returned from a long injury, can play in any defensive position, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko can also play on the left flank. It seems unlikely that all these players will remain in the squad for the new season.
