Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal could bid £60m for Viktor Gyokeres transfer

According to a report  Liverpool are not currently interested in bidding for Viktor Gyokeres. He is a player who Arne Slot admires, but they are not actively looking to sign him, unless an opportunity presents itself. The report does also state that Arsenal could be readying their first offer for the Swedish striker in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal’s opening for Viktor Gyokeres is expected to be between £55m and £60m, says Fabrizio Romano (h/t Team Talk). This is a very substantial low-ball offer, considering Gyokeres has a release clause of just under £85m. So, it remains to be seen whether or not Sporting will even entertain this offer from Arsenal.

That said, it’s a common practice in the transfer market that clubs will open bidding at a lower price than they’d be willing to pay. This is because it then allows the club more room to negotiate. Therefore, Arsenal fans should take comfort in the knowledge that there is more than £60m allocated to the budget for a new striker this summer.
