Former Arsenal Striker and French professional footballer, Yaya Sanogo who plays as a striker for China League One club Qingdao Red Lions, has launched a scathing attack on former club Middlesbrough, accusing the club of “bringing my career to a halt” during his time there.
Sanogo, who was born on January 27, 1993, in Massy, France, began his youth career at Les Ulis before moving to Auxerre’s youth academy. He made his debut for Auxerre in 2010 at the age of 16 and went on to play for the club’s senior team from 2010 to 2013.
In 2013, Sanogo was transferred to Arsenal, where he struggled to break into the first team during his four seasons at the club. The then young forward was part of the squad that won the FA cup under former manager Arsene Wenger. He had loan spells with Crystal Palace, Ajax, and Charlton Athletic before transferring to Toulouse in 2017.
Sanogo’s time at Middlesbrough was brief and unsuccessful, and he has now spoken out about the negative impact it had on his career. “Middlesbrough brought my career to a halt,” Sanogo said. “I was not given the opportunity to play regularly, and when I did, I was not given the chance to express myself.”
Sanogo has also played for Huddersfield Town and Urartu, and has represented France at various youth levels, including the under-20 team that won the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
