Arsenal win, Fulham bargain – Emile Smith Rowe transfer verdict given amid £35m deal

Emile Smith Rowe’s time at Arsenal looks like it could be coming to an end. The 23-year-old looks set to move to Fulham in a deal worth around £35million – a transfer that would equal the Gunners’ record sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool back in 2017.

With a move edging closer, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admitted he left the Gunners star out of their opening pre-season friendly against Bournemouth, with the attacker confined to the bench throughout.

In many ways, an exit for Smith Rowe would be disappointing for Arsenal. The attacker has been one of the most promising graduates of their Hale End Academy, moving into the first team alongside Bukayo Saka under Unai Emery’s leadership.

The England international went on to become an exciting prospect in the first team, even being handed the No.10 shirt. However, injuries have disrupted his last two years with the Gunners, restricting him to just 25 league appearances across two seasons.
