Manchester United could rebuild midfield with £50.5m deal and £55m pre-season bonus

It’s been a good start to the summer for Manchester United, with arrivals secured in the two priority positions identified before the window opened to freshen up Erik ten Hag’s squad.

A forward and a centre-back were considered the most pressing issues after the departures of Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial on free transfers. In Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee they have young replacements on much lower salaries. Ten Hag is certainly pleased with the business done and praised the new football structure in place at United when speaking after the pre-season friendly win against Rangers on Saturday.
