Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Tommy Setford from Ajax. The England youth international joins on a long-term deal following the purchase for under £1million
Setford has represented England at Under-16s, Under-17s, Under-18s and Under-19s levels while having also been called up to the Under-20s squad. A highly regarded modern goalkeeper, the club have sold the 18-year-old a pathway to convince him to leave a side in Ajax known for their push and development of youth stars.
Having featured in the UEFA Youth League for Ajax and at Under-18s level, even making their Under-21s bench on a couple occasions he joins Arsenal to replace the swathe of goalkeepers who were released at the end of last month. Five have departed and Setford becomes the second youth stopper to arrive after Lucas Nygaard.
