Andre Onana has said Manchester United ‘will enjoy’ Leny Yoro after his first appearance for the club in pre-season.
Yoro sealed a €70m move from Lille to United on Thursday evening and he immediately joined up with the squad to play his first game against Rangers.
United took on Rangers at a sold-out Murrayfield Stadium for their second pre-season friendly this summer and Yoro started in central defence alongside Jonny Evans.
Yoro played the opening 45 minutes and showed glimpses of his quality before each outfield player was replaced by youngsters from the academy at the interval.
United are hopeful Yoro can develop into one of the world’s best defenders and Onana backed him to succeed at Old Trafford when speaking to reporters after the game.
“That’s why he’s here [he has lots of talent],” said Onana about Yoro. “If you want to be a Manchester United player, you must have quality and he’s already shown himself in the first half. He’s a young player, a talented player, good on the ball, so we’re going to enjoy him this season.
