The Spaniard is said to be someone Arsenal are very keen on, but there have been a number of conflicting reports about the Euro 2024 star.
One minute Arsenal are set to make a move, the next a move to Barcelona appears to be on the cards.
Speaking on Inside Arsenal, Team News and Ticks has shared what he’s heard on Williams from his reliable sources.
The insider says some of his less regular sources informed him of a meeting between Williams and Arsenal that was pencilled in this week, but, his more regular sources weren’t able to confirm this meeting was set to happen, although, they did say that Williams is a player Arsenal love.
What reliable Arsenal sources say about Nico Williams
The insider shared what he’s heard about Williams.
“I do want to speak quickly on Nico Williams. I said the other day that I’d heard from someone who isn’t a regular source that we plan to meet him this week,” He said.
“Then I spoke to my regular guys who said that we love him, but they didn’t clarify if there was a meeting or not. That got around Twitter, but I have no idea if there was a meeting, and it doesn’t seem like there was.
“I know the interest is real and if Barcelona can’t get it done, we are positioning ourselves for it to be us. How long we wait for that is a different story. I know we tried really hard to get him before the Euros but Barcelona is his preference.”
Nico Williams waiting game
Arsenal seem to be very keen on Nico Williams, but they may have to wait to make their move.
Indeed, Barcelona are the frontrunners in this deal, and Arsenal’s next steps depend on what the Spanish giants do.
If Barcelona accelerate and get this deal done, then so be it, but if Arsenal do get a sense that La Blaugrana can’t clear the financial hurdles in front of them, then they have to be ready to pounce.
Arsenal still have an outside chance of signing Williams this summer.
