Arsenal have had to say a few bitter goodbyes over the years.
The north London club have had to ditch the likes of Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and while both players were brilliant for Arsenal, their relationship with the fans was tainted by the end of their time at the Emirates.
Now, Arsenal are much more stable as a club both on the pitch and behind the scenes.
Sadly, the reality is that they still need to trim the fat from their squad, and that may mean they have to say goodbye to some fan favourites.
Emile Smith Rowe is one player who has been linked with a move away from Arsenal as of late.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast, David Ornstein has shared an update on Smith Rowe’s Arsenal future.
Ornstein says that the midfielder is still well thought of at Arsenal and that the Gunners will genuinely be sad to see the England international leave if he decides he has to go.
Ornstein shared what he knows about Smith Rowe.
“He’s an elite talent and it’s a shame that it hasn’t worked out there because of physical issues. It looks like he will have to move on to pastures new.
“It’s not set in stone, he’s still well thought of at Arsenal, and the bids will have to be right.
“Arsenal now have to extract the best possible value, but if he does go, Arsenal will be said to see him leave.”
Smith Rowe departure would be a shame
It would be a massive shame if Smith Rowe has to leave Arsenal.
The midifielder was once seen as one of the next big things in north London alongside Bukayo Saka, but injuries have hampered his progress.
In another world, Smith Rowe would be starting for Arsenal every week and leading the Gunners to glory, but, sadly, it hasn’t worked out that way for Smith Rowe.
Fingers crossed Smith Rowe can find a club where he’ll be able to fulfil his potential.
