‘Superb’ player could become Arsenal’s new number 10 if Emile Smith Rowe leaves

Emile Smith Rowe has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal.

The Gunners are expected to sell quite a few players in this summer’s transfer window. Reports have claimed that as many as 10 Arsenal players have been put on the chopping block.

The likes of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares have already left on loan, but a few more could leave the club on a permanent deal.

One such player is Smith Rowe, who has been attracting plenty of interest.

Martin Odegaard could take Emile Smith Rowe’s Arsenal number 10 shirt

Smith Rowe’s future at Arsenal is up in the air.

The Englishman was once one of the first names on the team sheet along with Bukayo Saka. He was unbelievable in the 18 months after he broke into the first team.

However, since the start of the 2022/23 season, Smith Rowe has spent a lot of time on the sidelines due to injury issues.

The Arsenal number 10 has played less than 700 minutes of first-team football over the last two seasons, and that has led to rumours that he could leave.

Fulham have had a bid rejected by Arsenal for Smith Rowe, but the Cottagers are expected to come back in with another offer.

Crystal Palace are also interested in signing Smith Rowe this summer.

There is a good chance that the 23-year-old will leave Arsenal in this window. If he does, his number 10 shirt will be up for grabs.

We think Martin Odegaard could take that squad number.

The Arsenal skipper already wears the number 10 shirt in the Norway national team. He plays in the number 10 role as well and he’d be more suited to have that shirt than anyone else in the squad.

Just like how Mesut Ozil swapped his number 11 for 10 after Jack Wilshere left Arsenal, we think Odegaard will do the same if Smith Rowe leaves.

Odegaard’s idol wears the number 10 shirt too

The number 10 is the most iconic shirt in football history.

Many of the greats have donned that shirt over the years. From Dennis Bergkamp at Arsenal to Diego Maradona and Pele everywhere they played, the number epitomises greatness.

Odegaard, branded as ‘superb’ by Alan Shearer, is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, and he would be the perfect man to have the number 10 shirt at Arsenal.

The Norway international’s idol wears that shirt too – Lionel Messi!

Odegaard’s boyhood coach Herald Johannessen once revealed that the Arsenal captain grew up watching the Argentina superstar and always looked up to him (Goal).
