Report: Spurs have ‘unexpectedly’ offered £25m for Barcelona youngster

Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly already making big moves ahead of the summer transfer window, after a report claims the North London club have tabled an offer for Barcelona’s young midfielder, Pablo Torre, worth around £25m.

Ange Postecoglou has already overseen two fairly busy transfer windows in his time at Tottenham, and we could be set for another frenzied period in the market for the Lilywhites in the summer.

Spurs are known to be looking for a new central midfielder in the upcoming window. And, despite the fact young talent, Lucas Bergvall, will be joining the squad at the end of the season, it seems Tottenham are not stopping there.

Emerging on Tottenham’s radar today is Barcelona youngster, Pablo Torre. Although he is currently on loan at Girona, it is thought the Spaniard will have a bright future at the Catalan club — if he sticks around, that is.

The report comes from local outlet ENoticias.cat, who claim Spurs have tabled a €30m (£25m) bid for the 20-year-old. It is thought the offer has been “completely unexpected” from Barcelona’s side and that a decision has not yet been made whether to accept or not.

A move to the Premier League is “not ruled out” at this stage.

Torre joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 and has made 13 appearances for the Catalan club, scoring one goal (Transfermarkt). However, this season, Torre has been turning out for La Liga high-flyers Girona, registering one goal and two assists in 24 appearances.

Spurs Web Opinion

Pablo Torre is a nifty little player, but I’m not sure he is the one we want or need to upgrade our midfield options. With Bergvall coming in, we need a slightly more experienced player to step in, too, rather than a youngster like Torre.
