Manchester United have held internal talks over the prospect of signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ivan Toney, according to reports. The Athletic has reported that the Red Devils have discussed the Everton and Brentford strikers as they look to bolster their strikeforce.
Already, Erik ten Hag’s side are said to be hot on the trail in the race to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee. Arsenal were previously linked with all three forwards, including the Dutchman Zirkzee, as Mikel Arteta also eyes on strengthening his attack as they continue to be linked with players across Europe.
It has been said in The Athletic, both Calvert-Lewin and Toney have indicated that they will not pen fresh terms in Merseyside and the capital as they enter the final year of their contracts. The Bees are said to value the 28-year-old at around £60million but there are suggestions he could be available for a fee in the region of £40million.
Everton have had their share of financial concerns after twice breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability last season, resulting in an eight-point deduction. The Toffees parted ways with Lewis Dobbin and Ben Godfrey who made switches to Aston Villa and Atalanta, respectively, but The Athletic says that their financial situation could see Calvert-Lewin offloaded for £30million.
