Arsenal unlock Viktor Gyokeres transfer breakthrough as Mikel Arteta plots Joshua Kimmich deal

Mikel Arteta will be keen to bolster his Arsenal squad this summer. The Gunners continue to be linked with some big names, like Viktor Gyokeres and Joshua Kimmich, but, for now, it’s unclear whether or not Edu will splash the cash.

Last year, the Gunners forked out over £200m on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber alone. After heavily investing in two midfielders and a defender, Arteta may finally decide to beef up his frontline.

Arsenal consider Kimmich deal

According to Sky Sports Germany, Joshua Kimmich still has no agent and any club that wants to sign him this summer will have to personally call him. The Bayern Munich midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League for a while now, with his contract set to expire in June 2025.

The report states that Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all interested in signing Kimmich – whether it’s this summer or next year. football.london understands that the Gunners want to improve their midfield following the departure of Mohamed Elneny.

Meanwhile, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira face uncertain futures at the Emirates Stadium. The duo have struggled to force themselves into Arteta’s plans, putting a lot of pressure on Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in the middle of the park.

Gyokeres deal ‘very close’

According to Portuguese newspaper Leonino, Arsenal are ‘very close’ to wrapping up a deal for Viktor Gyokeres and it’s said that ‘the deal is only tied up in financial details’. The Sporting CP striker continues to be heavily linked with a move to the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his frontline.

It’s believed that the Gunners hold an interest in the Sweden international, who ticks numerous boxes for Arteta in his search for a new talisman. In April, his agent Hasan Cetinkaya revealed that ‘a lot of clubs’ want to discuss Gyokeres’ future.

Clubs queue up to sign Williams

According to Fabrizio Romano, Premier League clubs have reportedly made contact with Nico Williams’ representatives ahead of a potential transfer this summer. Speaking on his Youtube channel, the journalist said: “One more detail on Nico Williams, and this is important.

What I’m told some big English clubs made contact with people close to Nico Williams, [which was] two, three or four weeks ago. [They are] important clubs in the Premier League; for example he is appreciated by people at Chelsea, and he is appreciated by people at Arsenal too. Many clubs have moved to understand the situation of Nico Williams.”
