Mundo Deportivo have now claimed that Barcelona are set to enter the race for Atalanta star Ederson, who is also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur.
Ederson has had an outstanding season at Bergamo and the midfielder is being backed to make a step up to a bigger club at the end of the season.
It has been widely reported by various sources over the last few weeks that Tottenham are prioritising signing a number six in the summer and that the Brazilian is one of the players they are watching closely (Football.London).
Meanwhile, reports from Spain over the last month have revealed that Atletico Madrid are also keen on the 24-year-old, naming Spurs as the La Liga side’s main competitors for the player (Marca).
Mundo Deportive have now claimed that Barcelona are the latest club to join the queue of clubs interested in Ederson.
The report says that the Catalan club want to reinforce their midfield this summer and their sporting director, Deco, is preparing a list of names, with the Atalanta star thought to be one of the names on that list.
However, the publication makes it clear that Barca will not find it easy to sign Ederson as they face competition from Spurs, Atletico and Newcastle.
Finally, it is alleged that Gian Piero Gasperini’s men could demand a fee close to €50m (£43m) for the midfielder, who is said to be ‘prepared to make a big leap’ this summer.
Tottenham should not have any trouble outbidding the likes of Barca and Atletico but the Blaugrana do retain a lot of pull for players and Ederson’s head might be turned if they show concrete interest.
