New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been told he’ll have to be patient when it comes to Gavi’s comeback from injury.
The midfielder has been out since suffering an ACL tear back in November which required surgery and ended his campaign prematurely.
Diario AS are reporting that Flick has been told by Barcelona he’s not expected back until mid-November at the earliest due to the fact the injury also affected his meniscus.
The news means Flick will have to cope without Gavi for the first three months of the campaign, and possibly longer as he recovers from a very serious injury.
Gavi has been spotted out on the grass recently at the Ciutat Esportiva, but Barcelona will exercise great caution over his comeback.
The report adds that Gavi’s recovery is still positive and on track but the priority is to “minimize risks” – given recent history with Ansu Fati and Pedri you can understand why.
Flick is said to view Gavi as a key player for his team as he has the energy, leadership, intensity and sheer talent that he will demand from his players.
