Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the release clause of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams who is a target for Arsenal this summer.
Williams has been turning heads at the ongoing 2024 European Championship in Germany with impressive performances against Croatia and Italy, maintaining full focus on the tournament.
The 21-year-old is coming off a remarkable domestic campaign and is once again at the centre of intense transfer speculation. As one of Europe’s most sought-after attacking prospects, Williams has been linked with several top clubs, but concrete offers have yet to materialise.
Following his standout performance against Italy on Thursday, which earned him the UEFA Man of the Match award, Romano confirmed Williams’ release clause via social media.
“The release clause in Nico Williams’ contract at Athletic Club is worth almost €58 million, after an agreement on a new deal a few weeks ago,” Romano stated. Athletic Bilbao president Jon Uriarte commented, “The interest is normal, but Nico is very happy in Bilbao, and we are very happy with him. We’re not worried.”
