Arsenal have made contact to sign a £52m-rated playmaker tipped to star at Euro 2024, according to a recent report.
Mikel Arteta will be keeping a close eye on Euro 2024 as he looks to bolster his ranks ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Gunners came up two points short of the Premier League title last term and will be desperate to finally pip Manchester City next term.
To do that, Arteta will need to be backed in the window and it has just emerged, that the club have made contact to sign one Euro 2024 star.
Arsenal make contact to sign Xavi Simons
According to L’Equipe, Arsenal have tested the waters to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s playmaker Xavi Simons.
The £52m-rated man is away with the Netherlands at the Euros and has been tipped to be one of the breakout stars.
Simons spent last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig and netted 10 times whilst laying on 15 assists.
The former Barcelona youth player is expected to depart PSG this summer as he’s not considered in Luis Enrique’s thoughts.
That has led a number of clubs to be put on red alert, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
Xavi Simons likely to be loaned again
Simons is likely to head out on loan again rather than on a permanent deal.
This is because if PSG sanction a sale before Janaury 2025, PSV will receive the majority of the transfer fee.
Simons, at this stage, prefers a move back to Leipzig, so perhaps a switch to Arsenal may not commence until next year.
