Arsenal are reportedly keen on Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer in a story that seems to developing by the day.
Onana is known to be on the Gunners’ radar and it’s no secret they admire the Belgian as they look to sign a new midfielder this summer.
The 22-year-old is one of Everton’s most saleable assets and with the Toffees under PSR pressure, there is a belief Onana will be sold to ease things.
Indeed, it was reported just yesterday that Arsenal had indeed made contact with the Everton camp over a potential deal for Onana.
However, writing in a fresh report for The Mirror today, journalist Ryan Taylor has suggested otherwise.
Arsenal’s intentions with Amadou Onana made clear
Offering up a fresh take on the situation with Onana and Arsenal, Taylor’s report actually suggests that while interest is there, nothing has advanced as yet.
“Arsenal admire Onana but they’re yet to make formal contact with Everton over a potential deal – contrary to reports.
“He is a player they’ve tracked heavily and rate but interest has not gone any further than that at this stage and there are believed to be other midfield targets of greater priority than the 22-year-old,” Taylor writes.
Onana is valued at around the £50m mark by Everton and it remains to be seen if Arsenal have that sort of money to spend without sales.
Others will be ahead of Onana for Arsenal
As is suggested in this report here, there’s a lot of midfielders in the world right now and Arsenal have been linked with more than one.
When it comes to Amadou Onana, despite him being an obvious talent, you get the impression that Arsenal have their eyes elsewhere.
Yes, Onana is used to the Premier League and has a big future ahead of him in the game.
But at this moment in time, he might be different to what the Gunners are actually looking for in the middle of the park.
Onana to Arsenal, then, will rumble on all summer until a deal is struck somewhere.
