Hansi Flick wants Joshua Kimmich at Barcelona on free transfer in 2025

Barcelona’s new manager Hansi Flick has been heavily linked with a potential reunion with his former Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Joshua Kimmich at Camp Nou, but the Blaugrana’s financial situation doesn’t allow such an operation to happen this summer.

But Flick and Barça might have some hope next year: the new Blaugrana boss is pushing hard for Kimmich to sign with Barça on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, according to a report by German outlet BILD.

Kimmich has a year left on his contract and his new manager Vincent Kompany is not interested in selling the German international this summer, but Kimmich and Bayern do not see eye to eye on a potential new contract and a renewal between Kimmich and the Bavarians does not appear close, the report says.

If Kimmich does not renew and becomes a free agent next year, Barça are expected to be in the pole position due to Flick’s relationship with the player. But Real Madrid will also push to sign Kimmich as a replacement to the retiring Toni Kroos, which will make it a potential El Clásico in the market with Kimmich as the prize.

What do you think of the club’s chances of signing Kimmich on a free next year, Barça fans? Let us know in the comments below!
