Marc Casado is being tipped to replace Sergi Roberto in the Barcelona squad for the 2024-25 season.
Roberto’s future is in doubt with his contract set to expire at the end of the month. An extension had been planned but financial issues, and the arrival of Hansi Flick, have slowed things down.
Roberto is now said to be “very pessimistic” about staying on for another season and may well be out the door this summer.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that his place could be taken by Barcelona Atletic captain Casado who is set to sign a new deal.
The report claims Barca feel Casado will provide “extra physical vigor, youth and ambition” than Roberto and all for less money.
Casado is expected to sign a new deal until 2027, with Laporta admitting in yesterday’s interview that Barca are thinking of the youngster being a first-team player for next season.
