One of the biggest success stories from the 2022/2023 season was Alejandro Balde, who seamlessly managed to displace Jordi Alba from the squad and make the left-back position his own.
Despite the challenges of the recently concluded season, largely due to a long-term injury he sustained earlier this year, his return is in sight.
In fact, Barcelona’s new manager Hansi Flick is eager to replicate the success he achieved with Alphonso Davies, this time with Balde.
Now, Balde has touched upon some topics related to Barcelona in a recent chat with members of The Residency.
When asked if he would join Liverpool this summer, Balde replied rhetorically, “And leave Barcelona in the summer? No way, my guy!”
There has been some talk of the Catalans potentially cashing in on the Spaniard this summer in light of their strained financial circumstances, but Balde affirms that he has no intention of leaving.
When asked who he thinks will win the Golden Boy award this year, Balde humorously responded, “My son, Lamine.”
The 16-year-old sensation has enjoyed an incredible campaign and will have an opportunity to make an impression in the upcoming Euros with Spain, too.
Furthermore, Balde was asked to name the best player he has ever played with, to which he responded, “Busquets.”
Given Busquets’ mastery in the defensive midfield position for over a decade and the Catalans’ struggles since bidding him farewell, Balde’s answer barely bewilders.
As for his recovery process, Balde issued an update by stating, “My recovery is going very good. Already doing workout with the ball.”
The youngster returned to training on the grass a couple of weeks ago and is slated to return to full fitness by the time the pre-season starts.
