Packers Trade Back for Three Extra Picks in New Two-Round NFL Mock Draft
As the Green Bay Packers prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft, the question looms: where should they prioritize their selections? Should they focus on strengthening the defensive line, perhaps addressing a need at defensive tackle or end? Or maybe it’s time to boost their receiving corps or improve the cornerback position? With the offensive line also a concern, especially with three starters set to hit free agency soon, the Packers’ draft needs are widespread.
In contrast to previous years when trades involving stars like Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers provided the Packers with additional picks, this time, Green Bay doesn’t have extra assets to spare. This makes the Packers’ approach to the draft all the more strategic. In Pro Football Network’s two-round mock draft, analyst Cameron Sheath proposed a trade-back scenario that could help the Packers address their needs more effectively.
Sheath suggested the Packers trade down from the 23rd pick to the 32nd spot, swapping with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. In return, the Packers would gain three additional draft picks: one in the third round, one in the fourth, and one in the fifth. This would bring Green Bay’s total picks to 11, with six of those in the first four rounds — a substantial boost that could be pivotal in rounding out their roster.
With this trade, the Packers would likely target a defensive tackle in the first round, and Sheath highlighted Oregon’s Derrick Harmon as a prime candidate. Harmon, who posted five sacks and 11 tackles for loss in his final season with the Ducks, would fill a critical gap left by TJ Slaton’s departure to the Bengals. While Harmon isn’t a prototypical run-stuffer, he’s renowned for his pass-rushing ability, having posted the highest pressure rate among interior rushers in his class, according to Pro Football Focus. With his gritty mentality and relentless pursuit of the ball, Harmon would bring an edge to Green Bay’s defensive line.
In the second round, the Packers could look to bolster their secondary by selecting Iowa State cornerback Darien Porter. Porter is one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft due to his size, speed, and significant upside. Initially a receiver for most of his college career, Porter transitioned to cornerback in 2022 and quickly made an impact. Despite limited playing time, he allowed just five completions on 17 targets in 2024, finishing with five pass breakups, including three interceptions. His exceptional performance in a small sample size makes him a high-risk, high-reward prospect with enormous potential.
