Robert Lewandowski explains how he wants to help Lamine Yamal at Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski has been talking about his relationship with Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal and insists he has a “good connection” with the teenager.

The spotlight was on the duo earlier in the season after Lewandowski appeared to refuse a handshake with Lamine, but the Poland international was been full of praise for his team-mate and has explained how he’s trying to help him develop at Barcelona.

“Lamine has played very good football this season, he is a star who is only 16 years old. He probably wants to play 10, 12 or more years in football, I have experience and I want to help him with the mentality,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“And for the mentality now it is very important to have your feet on the ground thinking about the long term. Lamine has a great future. I have a connection with him.

“From the beginning of the season to now, I can say that he has taken a step forward. Now I see many things that I didn’t see at the beginning, and not only for him, but also thinking about the team.”

It’s been a great season for Lamine who has cemented his place in the first team despite his tender years. He heads into the final game of the season on Sunday against Sevilla with seven goals and seven assists to his name so far for Barca.
