Liverpool legend claims one player could cost Arsenal the title

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has cast doubt on Arsenal’s Premier League title credentials, insisting that the Gunners will not win the league with Kai Havertz as their main striker.

Arsenal are set to resume their league campaign later this month, currently trailing table-toppers Liverpool by six points. Arne Slot’s side also has a game in hand, further complicating Arsenal’s title aspirations.

One of the main concerns surrounding Mikel Arteta’s team has been their lack of a traditional goalscorer, with Havertz now deployed as the focal point in attack. While the German international has netted nine league goals this season, he has also squandered key chances in crucial matches, leading to calls for reinforcements in the striking department.

Despite Arteta expressing openness to signing attacking options in the January transfer window, Arsenal ultimately refrained from bringing in a new forward. Fowler believes this decision could prove costly as the season progresses.

Speaking on The LineUp podcast, Fowler said, “If I’m being honest, he’s (Havertz) not my cup of tea. I think he’s OK, but if you’re a team with real aspirations of winning the Premier League and the Champions League, you need someone better than Kai Havertz in that focal striker role. He’ll do a job, but I don’t think he’s been as consistent as he would have liked. I just think there are better players out there.”
