WASHINGTON — With just two days to go until the next playoff game for our Washington Commanders, the team is getting us uplifted, while taking some time to celebrate the winning season with some of their youngest fans.
The burgundy and gold held two pep rallies on Wednesday, and one of them was at Children’s National Hospital in NW D.C.
No doubt the team is riding high, but players took time out of their day to make sure the spirits of the young patients were uplifted by having a ton of good old fashioned fun with activities, such as hosting a dance contest. One former Commander even celebrated his birthday by volunteering his time at Children’s National.
“Today was just a blessing to be here today at the children’s hospital,” Fred Davis, former Commanders tight end, said. “Today’s actually my birthday so it was awesome just to be able to give back.”
Meagan Davis, who works at the hospital, said the visit meant a lot to the children.
“Being in the hospital is really not fun, and to be able to have a special visit from the Commanders has been epic,” Meagan Davis said. “These kids had the biggest smiles on their faces, they were lit up, they just had so much fun.”
And you can be sure that the kids and hospital staff will be rooting all the way from the children’s hospital on Michigan Avenue — 520 miles to Detroit, Michigan when our Commanders take on the Lions come Saturday!
