Lewis Hamilton is relishing the prospect of taking the next challenge of his career with Ferrari after 11 years with Mercedes.
The seven-time world champion will link up with Charles Leclerc to create a formidable driving line-up, having replaced Carlos Sainz who left Ferrari to join Williams in the off-season.
Hamilton will begin life with his new team at the season-opening race at the Australian Grand Prix, which takes place in Melbourne on the weekend of March 15.
The 39-year-old posted about the importance of “embracing new opportunities” in a post on his LinkedIn page.
He said: “I could not be more excited for the year ahead. Moving to Scuderia Ferrari, there’s a lot to reflect on.
“To anyone considering their next move in 2025: embrace the change. Whether you’re switching industries, learning a new skill, or even just taking on new challenges, remember that reinvention is powerful.
“Your next opportunity is always within reach. Here’s to 2025 – a year of embracing new opportunities, staying hungry, and driving forward with purpose.
He announced the move in February last year and described his decision to leave Mercedes as the “hardest decision I’ve ever had to make”.
Speaking ahead of the 2024 season, he said: “Obviously, in the summer we signed and at that time I saw my future with Mercedes.
“But an opportunity came up in the New Year and I decided to take it. I feel like it was the hardest decision I have ever had to make.
“I have had a relationship with Mercedes since I was 13. They have supported me, and we have had an incredible journey together, created history within the sport, and it is something I take a lot of pride in.
“But ultimately I am writing my story, and I felt like it was time to start a new chapter.”
Max Verstappen remains the driver to beat heading into the new season, having won each of the last four F1 titles in his Red Bull.
There will be 24 Grands Prix during the 2025 season, matching last year’s total, with Melbourne hosting the season opener for the first time since 2019.
