NFL legend and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has vouched for Louis Riddick after the ESPN analyst and former executive was interviewed by the New York Jets for their vacant GM role.
The Jets parted ways with their head coach, Robert Saleh, and GM, Joe Douglas, mid-season, leaving the franchise two key roles to fill ahead of the 2025 campaign. Ex-Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has already been sounded out as an option for the main role, and former NFL safety and executive Riddick has been interviewed as a potential GM appointment.
NFL legend and Buffaloes HC Sanders has told the Jets not to pass up on Riddick, who he says is more than capable and experienced enough for the job in New York.
“Jets Please don’t mess this up and I pray this was a real interview and not that other thang y’all do,” Coach Prime wrote Thursday on X. “This man deserves a REAL CHANCE! He is knowledge & Class personified!”
Riddick, a six-year NFL vet, served as the Eagles’ director of pro personnel from 2010-13 and also held a position in the early 2000s at the Washington Commanders, formerly the Redskins. Since leaving Philadelphia, Riddick has become a regular fixture as an analyst on ESPN.
He was previously in the running for another general manager role in New York, interviewing with the Giants in 2017 and the Detroit Lions and the Houston Texans in 2020. Sanders has long supported Riddick, with both playing on the same roster at the Atlanta Falcons in the 1990s.
The Jets announced Tuesday that they completed interviews with Riddick and Ron Rivera. Owner Woody Johnson is spearheading the search alongside The 33rd Team, a group led by former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum.
