Barcelona return to training with traditional open-doors session in front of fans

Barcelona players returned to training on Sunday after the festive break as the Catalans took in their traditional open-doors session in front of supporters at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

The first-team were back to work with Dani Olmo one of the first players to emerge after returning from a brief trip to the United States.

Olmo is still waiting to be registered for the second half of the season but was all smiles as he waved to fans and it’s hoped the saga will be over soon.

The Barca stars showed off their skills during the session as they prepare to start the year with a Copa del Rey tie against Barbastro and then a trip to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup.

There was also some good news on the injury front. Andreas Christensen took part in the session, as he closes in on a return from an achilles problem, while Lamine Yamal was also present.

Yamal trained away from the main group but it’s hoped he will be passed fit soon and will be available to take on Athletic Club in the Super Cup.

Marc Casado had a few words about the event and admitted it was a joy to be part of it after coming to such sessions when he was a kid.

“This is a beautiful day, but a beautiful day for everyone. It’s a dream. I was one of those kids who came to see the Barça players train,” he told Barca One.
